IWP was launched in the spring of 2001 with a budget of € 50 m for the financing and production of internationally marketable English language films. At least 50% of filming and post-production has taken place in Germany. IWP is a closed-end fund in which private investors can buy shares. Siegfried Ley is CEO of IWP.
IWP’s first film was "Triggermen“, a gangster comedy, which featured an all-star cast including Pete Postlethwaite, Michael Rapaport, Donnie Wahlberg, Neil Morissey, Amanda Plummer, Adrian Dunbar and Claire Forlani.
Three large international films were produced with US producer Brad Krevoy and his company MPCA. "Joe and Max“, a film about the rivalry and friendship between boxers Max Schmeling (Til Schweiger) and Joe Louis (Leonard Roberts) with a budget of about US $10 m, premiered in March 2002 at STARZ! achieving ratings equal to big studio pictures. The comedy "Boat Trip“, starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Horatio Sanz and Roger Moore with a budget of US $ 20 m, achieved excellent NRG ratings and was recently acquired by Artisan and will be released in January 2003. "Barely Legal“, features Eric von Detten ("Princess Diaries"), Tom Arnold (“True Lies”) and Amy Smart ("Road Trip") in a teen-comedy about three high school friends who try to produce an adult movie. “Barely Legal” is currently in postproduction.
Furthermore, IWP produced with L.A.-based International Arts and Entertainment the independent feature "Bookies“. This is a film about three college friends who become small-time campus bookies only to find their world spinning dangerously out of control when they attract the attention of the local Mafia. The film stars Nick Stahl (John Connor in "Terminator 3“), Johnny Galecki ("Vanilla Sky“), Lukas Haas ("Everybody says I love you“) and Rachael Leigh Cook ("She’s All That“) and will be released in 2003.
