The gifted comedienne Lin Shaye is featured as Sonja, the epicene coach of the Swedish Bikini Team in International West Pictures hilarious new comedy "Boat Trip".
Far more attractive than the wacky characters she often portrays, Shaye's debut film appearance was in Jack Nicholson's 1978 "Goin' South". A favorite of director Walter Hill, she has appeared in four of his films. She also acted in eight pictures produced by her brother, New Line Cinema's founder Robert Shaye, before the Farrelly brothers rescued her from anonymity and gave her the first of a series of memorable characters in their 1994 smash hit comedy "Dumb & Dumber".
The Farrellys, recognizing in her talent a kindred spirit, have cast her in every one of their pictures to date. Shaye was perhaps at her scene-stealing best in the Farrellys "There's Something About Mary", where she plays Magda, the sun-withered matron whose dog Matt Dillon accidentally electrocutes. In Adam Rifkin's 1999 "Detroit Rock City" she appears as a God-fearing, KISS-hating mom. Most recently she can be seen in the Farrelly's "Me, Myself and Irene" (2000) and in this year's "Say It Isn't So" (2001).
