Peta Wilson (Anny Ondra)
Peta Wilson co-stars as Max Schmeling’s beautiful wife, the German movie star Anny Ondra, in International West Pictures "Joe and Max", the exciting new movie the legendary boxing champions, Joe Louis and Max Schmeling, and their amazing friendship which spanned three decades, from the early days of World War II through the 1960s.
A native of Australia, Peta Wilson spent her early years traveling with her family as an "Army brat" and much of her childhood in New Guinea. Her experiences traveling placed her on the road to a career as a performer. Not having a television in New Guinea, Peta and her brother would perform for family and friends as a way of entertaining themselves. Being so frequently on the move, Peta learned to quickly size up different social situations and act in whatever manner would help her fit in. Her travels eventually landed her in America, where Peta was able to pursue her desire to become an actress. Her dream was realized when Peta won the role of' "Nikita" for the USA Network original series, "La Femme Nikita".
Wilson starred as a courageous woman who was given a difficult choice – join a secret, ruthless government agency or face execution. After being falsely accused of a crime she did not commit, "Nikita" must fight for her survival. While working for this covert organization, she desperately tries to create a life of her own in the outside world. But her role in the agency continuously forces her back into the world of anti-terrorism and underground spies.
The immense success of "La Femme Nikita" helped make Peta a household name in America. She has been featured in such publications as In Style, Details, People, US, the covers of TV Guide and the inaugural issue Gear, as well a appearances on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, "Late Night" with Conan O’Brien, "The Rosie O’Donnell Show", "The Late Show" with David Letterman and "Politically Incorrect". In addition, there are over 100 web sites dedicated to Wilson and/or the series.
Her personal interests include classic cars (she already has begun to amass a small collection with a 1962 Chevrolet and a 1956 Thunderbird convertible), the theater and various types of music, notably blues and country. She is also an accomplished sailor, having earned the prestigious title of "Australian Interservice Champion Trailer Sailors." Peta also loves the fashion world and keeps up with the fashion industry as much as possible. Peta’s most important priority though, is her family. Her grandmother often stayed with her in Toronto when "Nikita"” was in production and throughout the years she has usually had one of her relatives visiting.
Peta has studied with such acting coaches as Arthur Mendoza from the Actors Circle Theater in Los Angeles, Tom Wails at Tom Cats Repertory Group and Sylvana Gulado. Her first role for the Actors Circle Theater was in a production of "Fool For Love". Her film credits include "Mercy", (opposite Ellen Barkin), "The Sadness of Sex", and she recently starred in the Showtime miniseries, "A Girl Thing", along with Allison Janney, Stockard Channing, Mia Farrow and Linda Hamilton.
Wilson enjoys an active and athletic lifestyle. In addition to vigorous one-on-one training, she enjoys scuba diving, swimming, water skiing, yoga and aerobic funk classes. She is an avid reader and collector of photojournalism books. Peta spends as much time as her schedule permits at her primary residence in New York City.
